Tod R. Sturgeon Sr.

October 5, 1948 - August 7, 2018

Tod R. Sturgeon, Sr., age 69, of Flat Rock, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Rivergate Health Care Center in Riverview, Michigan with family and friends by his side. Born on October 5, 1948 in Trenton, Michigan, he was the son of Donald and Joyce (Clark) Sturgeon. He was employed with DT&I and CN Railroad as a Yard Master for 42 years until retiring in 2008. Tod served in the US Army during Vietnam War from February 1970 to October 1971 in the 5th Infantry Division. He was a life member and past Commander of the Flat Rock Miller Storm VFW Post 9363, DT&I Old Timers, Ram Boosters, Weight master and board member of Huron River Yellow Jackets. Tod was the owner of Sturgeon Racing and loved hanging out with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cheryl, brothers Bill, Jack and Don and a sister Jenny Schaenzer. He is survived by his long time companion, Robin Schoen of S. Rockwood; son, Tod (Brooke) Sturgeon, Jr. of Lima, OH; daughters, Trisha Wonsowicz of Flat Rock and Tara Sturgeon of Carleton, 11 grandchildren, Kadyn, Kendyll, Kellan, Karson, Maddie, Landon, Logan, Sean, Joe, Jonas and Grace; brother, David Sturgeon of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Patricia Dube and Drew Leslie both of Phoenix, AZ. Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Downriver Veterans Honor Guard will officiate the service. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the family.
