Mary M. Elswick

September 19, 1927 - January 19, 2022

Mary M. Elswick, age 94, of Flat Rock, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Applewood Nursing Center in Woodhaven, Michigan. Born on September 19, 1927 in Long Fork, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William and Myra (Johnson) Johnson. On April 15, 1947 she married Richard Elswick in Speight, KY. Mary was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 1138. She was a loving caregiver to all her children and especially her grandchildren. Mary enjoyed cooking and always fed her family well. If anyone walked away hungry that was their fault. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Patty Ann Eblin, siblings Elmer Johnson, Kat Peppers, Bertha Meinke, Martin Johnson, Everette Johnson, Denver Johnson, Rose Johnson, Ronnie Johnson and Erma Duffy. She is survived by her children Lorraine (Bill) Lietaert, Michael (Joy) Elswick, Shelia Walker, Jimmy (Shirley) Elswick, Joan Elswick, Robert (Frances) Elswick; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren with another one on the way; 2 great great-grandchildren; siblings Gene Johnson and Claydean (Nancy) Johnson. Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 am. Rev. Kenneth Akers will officiate the service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron Township, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
