July 31, 1937 - October 12, 2021
Georgia Ann (Rounsifer) Malwitz, age 84, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning. She had been in declining health since July. Family and friends may visit on Friday, 1:00 to 8:00 pm at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel. Georgia will lie in state at 10:00 am Saturday at St John’s Lutheran Church in Waltz, MI. Pastor Kyle Jones will officiate the service at 11:00 am. Georgia was born at home on July 31, 1937 in Flat Rock, MI, and was raised in Waltz. She moved to Carleton when she married, where she continued to reside throughout the remainder of her earthly life. She was the daughter of Herbert J. and Edna Rounsifer, and sister to Barbara Samar and Dianne Rounsifer. She married the love of her life, Lloyd Malwitz, on May 4, 1957. As a result of their loving union, they had three sons. Georgia was a homemaker, and enjoyed traveling with her husband after he retired. Some of her favorite trips with her husband and family were to Florida, Yellowstone Park, Hawaii, Germany, and up-north to the family cabin. She was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church of Waltz, and a member of St John’s Ladies Aid. In addition to her husband, Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Diane Rounsifer, sister-in-law Bonnie Wehking, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Wehking and Charley Samar. Georgia enjoyed her church community, and was a very active member at St John’s. She was a lifelong member of the church, and was baptized there as an infant. Georgia volunteered at many church events through Ladies Aid, including assisting with funeral meals and Pancake Suppers for many years. Above all, she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and was a proud Grandma to two loving grandsons that brought her immense joy. Georgia is survived by her three children, Dennis (Kim) Malwitz, Darrin (Stephanie Shaw) Malwitz, and Daniel (Nikki) Malwitz, grandsons (Austin and Samuel), sister (Barbara Samar), and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a great-great nephew. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to St John’s Lutheran Church of Waltz. Georgia will be laid to rest beside her husband, at Michigan Memorial Cemetery, following services on Saturday. The family will host a celebration of life, honoring Georgia, after interment. At the request of the family, masks are required at the funeral home and church.
