Doug Leiffer, age 70, of Carleton, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 11, 1950 in Barbourville, Kentucky, he was the son of Carl and Nadine (Fox) Leiffer. On March 3, 1972 he married Peggy Inman in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carleton, MI. He served in the US Army from 1969 - 1971. Doug was employed with Ford Motor Company as a Die Setter for 30 years until retiring in 2002 and he was a volunteer fireman for Ash Twp Fire Dept. Doug was a member of the Carleton American Legion. He liked golfing, watching the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR. Over the past 13 years he enjoyed spending the winters in Myrtle Beach. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Leiffer and step-father Robert Schock. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Leiffer; mother, Nadine Schock; children, Joseph Leiffer, Rhonda Leiffer and Jennifer Leiffer; grandchildren, Alex Pankey, James Pankey, Jr., Collin Mitchell and Hannah Mitchell; sister, Pam Buttery and brother, Robert (Shelly) Schock, Jr. Friends may visit in the Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Divine Grace Catholic Church on Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 am. He will lie instate from 10:30 am until time of service. Father Michael Woroniewicz will officiate the service. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Carleton, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Promedica Hospice.
