Derrek D. Book, age 23, of Carleton, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 in Carleton, MI. Born on March 18, 1999 in Monroe, Michigan, he was the son of Daniel Book and Sheri Mell. He was employed with Andersen Material Handling, Wixom, MI as a Diesel Mechanic. Derrek was a graduate of Airport High School class of 2017 then attended Trade School at Lincoln Tech in Indiana. He loved farming, hunting, dairy cows, his goat and John Deere tractors. Derrek was preceded in death by his Great grandparents. He is survived by his mother Sheri (Greg Wasiluk) Mell; father Daniel Book; brother Quentin Todd; sister Jessica Book; grandparents Raymond Mell, Betty Foust, Robert Book and Dorothy (Jim) VanCalbergh; many uncles, aunts and cousins; his pet goat, Billy. Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Carleton Chapel on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor Rick Sparks will officiate the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, La Salle, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Devoted Barn (Animal rescue service) 1301 W Rose Center Rd, Holly, MI 48442.
